NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course

SYNOPSIS: A team of NRA Certified Firearms Instructors will provide the NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course.  The 8-hour course deals with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to safely reload metallic cartridges.  The fee covers the NRA Reloading textbook; NRA Safety Rules pamphlet;  (the students can keep the previous items); one-year membership to Southern Minnesota Sportsman's Club for student, spouse, and child under 18 years; lunch, coffee and rolls; and NRA Course Completion Certificate.  The course covers:

Introduction to Reloading and Reloading Safety.  Describe the firing process.  Explain the reloading process and why people reload.  Name and explain the fundamental safety rules for reloading.

Centerfire Cartridge Components.   Learn the proper nomenclature for center-fire cartridge components:  cases, primers, powder, and bullets.
 

Using the Reloading Manual and Reloading Data.  Select a suitable load for a particular metallic cartridge from a reloading manual.  Identify useful ballistics information for a particular metallic cartridge load in the ballistics tables in reloading manuals.

Metallic Cartridge Reloading Equipment.  Identify the equipment necessary to reload metallic cartridges.  Explain the proper operation and maintenance of reloading equipment and the requirements for a basic reloading bench.

The Metallic Cartridge Reloading Process.  Set up and operate reloading equipment and reload a metallic cartridge.

Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Practical Exercise.  Set up and operate reloading equipment.  Reload a metallic cartridge.

Course Review and Examination. Successfully complete the NRA Basic Metallic Cartridge Reloading Course written examination.
