SYNOPSIS: A team of NRA Certified Firearms Instructors will provide the NRA Home Firearm Safety course. The 4-hour course deals with the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of guns in the home.
Rules for Safe Gun Handling. Primary causes of gun accidents, basic elements of gun safety, and the three fundamental gun safety rules will be explained. Familiarization with other safety rules when using or storing guns. Awareness that firearm accidents have been on the decline.
Identifying and Unloading Different Firearms. Different types of handguns, rifles and shotguns and their parts will be explained. Unload various types of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Familiarization with muzzleloading firearms.
Practical Exercises in Safe Gun Handling. Safely handle the different types of firearms mentioned in Lesson II and unload them.
Types of Ammunition; Cleaning and Storage of Firearms. Different types of rifle cartridges, handgun cartridges, and shotgun shells will be explained. The firing sequence of modern ammunition will be explained. Proper cleaning of firearms will be demonstrated. Firearms and ammunition storage will be presented.
